Kim Woo-bin Stars in a New Action-comedy Titled “Officer Black Belt”

The action-comedy film ‘Officer Black Belt’ (무도실무관) has been confirmed for production on Netflix, starring Kim Woo-bin (김우빈) and Kim Sung-kyun (김성균). According to the source, filming began just last month in September 2023, indicating that it is expected to be released no earlier than the end of 2024.

Synopsis of Officer Black Belt

Lee Jeong-do, portrayed by Kim Woo-bin, holds impressive 9th-degree black belts in Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo combined. He unexpectedly becomes a substitute ‘Officer Black Belt’ for five weeks after saving one from an attack by a criminal with an electronic ankle monitor. Kim Seon-min, played by Kim Sung-kyun, a dedicated probation officer, recognizes Lee Jeong-do’s remarkable skills and suggests he formally takes on the role of an ‘Officer Black Belt.’


The movie’s title, ‘Officer Black Belt,’ pertains to the officers responsible for monitoring high-risk repeat offenders on probation who wear electronic ankle monitors. They work in pairs with probation officers to prevent these individuals from committing further crimes, and they are also tasked with averting potential dangers that probation officers may encounter while subduing criminals when necessary.
